The highly-anticipated project, which aims to bring awareness and support to Havens Hospices, is set to go live and will feature over 45 large elephant sculptures placed throughout the streets of Southend-on-Sea, Shoeburyness, and Leigh-on-Sea.

Last week, a team of Rickard Luckin colleagues, along with other volunteers, helped unload the elephant sculptures from the delivery lorries and into storage at the Ipeco building at Airport Business Park in Southend.

"It’s really important to us that we support the community in which we live and work and we’re hugely excited to be the Learning Partner for Havens Hospices’ Herd in the City . The project will have a very positive impact on inspiring and motivating our young people, all while supporting the vital charity work of Havens Hospices."

Rachel Hawksworth, Project Manager for Havens Hospices, said: “A huge thank you to everyone that helped to ensure all of our elephants arrived safe and sound, ready for the next stage of our free family art trail taking place this summer. We are so excited to see the artists and Learning Programme schools and groups start decorating these beautiful sculptures and bringing them to life.”

Rickard Luckin has selected Rock ‘n’ Glow , a Neil Fendell-designed elephant, to be part of the trail. The elephant has been decorated with acrylic pens and spray paints, depicting an evening scene of Southend-on-Sea’s iconic seafront.

To help visitors track down the entire pachyderm parade, an app will be released in conjunction with the launch of the trail. At the end of the summer, all the uniquely designed elephants will be auctioned to raise significant funds for the charity.
